“Anyone who fell, got up and walked away. We know no injuries,” police said on Twitter.
One person was arrested when a bicycle was thrown at a horse far from the line, police said.
City, state and provincial officials began an unprecedented campaign on Friday morning to evacuate protesters with their trucks and vehicles that had been blocking the streets of Ottawa for weeks. On Friday night more than 100 people were arrested and 21 vehicles were towed away.
At a press conference this afternoon, Ottawa interim police chief Steve Bell said officers would work all day and all night to evacuate protesters.
“We control the situation on the ground and continue to push forward to clear our roads,” Bell said.
Many trucks and vehicles have voluntarily left the protest but dozens continue to block roads in Parliament and surrounding areas.
“The children will be brought to a safe place,” the tweet said.
“Despite all this planning but it still shocked me and I was shocked to see children being put in danger, during the protests during the police operation,” Bell said. “We will continue to monitor their safety and security but we urge all parents with children there, to get the children out of there.”
Local media have shown live footage of the arrests that took place the Friday before the incident. Police searches and arrests took place less than a mile from the protest rally at Parliament Hill.
