The Indian team continues to do wonders by winning overseas in 2021. This year it has won the Gabba, Lord’s, Oval and Centurion Tests.
Like Gabba and Oval, India had never been to Centurion before 2021 and everything changed this year.
One of the founding fathers was Jasprit Bumrah who won a total of five wickets in the match. It is the time for some evictees to make a difference.
Bumrah cleared Rassie van der Dussen and Keshav Maharaj in the last few minutes of Day 4 to give India a place in the Proteas.
With the release of Rassie, Bumrah had entered the record books, becoming the fastest Indian bowler to take 100 Test wickets in overseas positions.
He surpassed the record set by Bhagwat Chandrasekhar who made it to 25 Tests. Bumrah has done it in 23 Tests. Also on the list is R Ashwin who reached the record in 26 Tests, followed by Bishan Singh Bedi, Javagal Srinath and Mohammed Shami who finished fourth in the list, taking 28 games to reach the record number.
India captain Virat Kohli highly commended Bumrah and Co.
After the win, Kohli said, “We were very confident that our bowling would do the job. We talked about it in the transfer window. As he didn’t throw too much in the first innings, it helped the opposition get them. Extra runs. The way these guys play together, It is a sign that our team is getting the result in that position. ”
India travel to Johannesburg to play the second Test which starts on January 2.
